Vietnam airmen buried after 50 years missing

The remains of six airmen missing in action for almost 50 years have been buried in Arlington National Cemetery, near Washington DC.

Lost since the Vietnam War, the crew went missing over Laos on Christmas Eve in 1965. Their remains were only found and identified through dental records and other evidence in the past two years.

Family members had initially hoped the crew had been taken captive, but when prisoners of war were released in 1972, the airmen were not amongst them.

On Monday, families were presented with American flags as the remains of the six airmen were buried together.
