US east coast swelters after storms cut electricity


Violent thunderstorms across the eastern United States have killed at least 13 people.

Millions have been left without power amid an intense heatwave and officials warn that the lack of air conditioning could threaten the very young, old and sick.

Utility companies are warning that some may not have their electricity restored for up to a week.
