Richard Haass: US options for Syria


As the US defence secretary tells lawmakers all options are on the table for Syria, Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, tells the BBC's Katty Kay that American appetite for any military intervention is low.

"It's very hard to dislodge a tyrant who has a real base of support if he's willing to kill his own people," Mr Haass says.

"Unless you're willing to go to war and really sit there for quite a while and build up a state."
