Strauss-Kahn court hearing postponed for 'medical examination'

IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has had his appearance in a New York courtroom postponed in order to allow New York police more time to make medical exams in his sexual assault case.

Attorneys for Mr Strauss-Kahn told reporters their client had "consented to an examination" and that "he intends to vigorously defend these charges and he denies any wrong-doing".

News reports showed a handcuffed Mr Strauss-Kahn being led into a waiting car by New York police officers.

He is expected to plead not guilty to the charges made against him.
