US election 2010: John Boehner's message to Obama
Ohio's John Boehner has said the results of the elections across the US are sending a clear message to President Barack Obama to change course.
Mr Boehner said it was "not a time for celebration", adding that would come "when small businesses are creating jobs again... when the spending binge in Washington has stopped".
As the Republicans have gained control of the House of Representatives, he will take over the role of House Speaker from Nancy Pelosi, the first woman to hold the position.
