Emergency declared as wildfires blaze in California

California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles county where dozens of homes and buildings have been destroyed by wildfires.

Cooler weather has helped fire crews battle several blazes, but authorities remain on high alert as fierce winds and higher temperatures are forecast.
