A Briton who recently married a US psychologist has died after being been stabbed by her stepson at her new home in the US, local reports say.

Tracy Brannan, 33, nee Wyatt and from Glasgow, is said to have died after the incident in Omaha, Nebraska, on Sunday.

Mrs Brannan's husband Harold, 60, was also injured while her stepson, David Brannan, 21, is reportedly in hospital after stabbing himself.

The Foreign Office said it was in touch with her relatives.

A spokesman said: "A British national died in Omaha, Nebraska. Next-of-kin are aware and we are providing consular assistance."

Mrs Brannan married Mr Brannan in May.

According to the Omaha World Herald, David Brannan was being treated at the Nebraska Medical Centre for stab wounds but was expected to survive.

The newspaper said police were called at about 0440 local time after Harold Brannan alerted neighbours.
