The India home of "Slumdog Millionaire" star Rubina Ali has been burned down in a massive fire.

Most of the awards that she received for her role in the Oscar-winning film were destroyed in the blaze that erupted in the Garib Nagar shantytown in Mumbai (Bombay) on Friday night.

Nobody was killed in the fire but 21 people were injured and more than 2,000 were left homeless, police have said.

Anne-Marie McNerney reports.
