Inside the US 101st Airborne division's Afghanistan outpost
The iconic 101st Airborne division of the US Army has arrived in Afghanistan as the last of the 30,000 strong surge that America hopes will turn the tide against the Taliban.
Around 4,000 troops from the division are being stationed in Paktika province, near the border with Pakistan.
The Taliban are entrenched in the area but, with greater manpower, the "Screaming Eagles" hope to seize the initiative.
The division's combat outpost just outside the village of Zerok has recently doubled in size owing to the surge.
Captain Henry Hansen of the 101st Airborne showed Quentin Sommerville around the base.
