Aid agencies warn of slow response to Pakistan disaster

Aid agencies are warning that the slow international reaction to the devastating floods in Pakistan could cost lives.

The United Nations estimates that 1,600 people have been killed and almost 14m affected by the disaster, but the global response has failed to match that of previous emergencies, such as the Haiti earthquake.

Pakistan's President Zardari has returned to the country, after his widely criticised foreign tour, but has yet to visit the affected areas.
