Jon Sopel is a presenter and correspondent on the BBC News channel and BBC One in the UK and a lead anchor on BBC World News. He joined the BBC in 1983 as a reporter and producer on BBC Radio Solent and has since garnered national acclaim in his extensive reporting across UK politics. In 2007 Jon was named political journalist of the year by the Public Affairs Industry.
Jon served as chief political correspondent for BBC News before spending four years as the BBC's Paris correspondent. Lyse Doucet is an award-winning Chief International Correspondent and Senior Presenter for BBC World News television and BBC World Service Radio.
She is regularly deployed to anchor special news coverage from the field and interview world leaders. Lyse also reports across the BBC including for BBC Newsnight.
She played a key role in the BBC's coverage of the "Arab Spring " across the Middle East and North Africa and has covered all the major stories in the region for the past 20 years. Yalda Hakim joined BBC World News in December 2012 as a presenter and correspondent. She made her on-screen debut in March 2013 presenting a special three part series of Our World entitled, Iraq: Ten Years On.
Before joining BBC World News, Yalda was the presenter of SBS Dateline in Australia. From a headline-making investigation in Afghanistan's Kandahar province to her reporting from Libya during the Arab Spring, Yalda has built up a wealth of journalistic experience around the world. Stephen Sackur, the presenter of HARDtalk, BBC World News' flagship current affairs interview programme, has been a journalist with BBC News since 1986. Broadcasting across BBC World News, BBC News Channel and BBC World Service, Stephen has interviewed many high-profile guests.
In November 2010, Stephen was awarded the 'International TV Personality of the Year Award' by the Association of International Broadcasters.
Before taking over HARDtalk, Stephen was based in Brussels for three years as the BBC's Europe Correspondent. He travelled across Europe to cover major stories around the continent, including Europe's worst terror attack of recent times in Madrid in 2004, and the expansion of the European Union from 15 countries to 25.
