Working Lives Rio: Musician


Six very different people who live and work in the Brazilian city talk about their lives.

Junior de Oliveira is a samba musician in Rio. He is 34, carrying on a family musical tradition.

Mr de Oliveira is the grandson of Silas de Oliveira, who composed Aquarela Brasileira in 1964, one of the country's most famous samba songs.

He lives with his mother in Vila da Penha, one of the city's working class neighbourhoods.
