Iraq conflict: What is the West's strategy?

RAF tornado jets have left the UK to help the country's humanitarian mission in northern Iraq.

The planes will conduct surveillance for cargo planes dropping essential supplies to people who fled to Mount Sinjar, following threats from the Islamic State (IS).

Both the UK and America have said there will be no "boots on the ground" but what is the West's strategy in Iraq?
