25 July 2014 Last updated at 09:08 BST

More than 800 people have died in the latest outbreak of violence in the Middle East, and despite calls for a ceasefire, the fighting continues.

The BBC has spoken to families on both sides of the conflict who are trying to live their lives under siege.

On Thursday, the Khatib family in Gaza told us their story.

In this video, we hear from the Schusters, an Israeli family who live about a mile from the border.

Bethany Bell reports.
