Global protests for al-Jazeera journalists detained in Egypt

27 February 2014 Last updated at 23:59 GMT

Protests have been held in London and around the world in support of journalists from the al-Jazeera network who have been detained in Egypt since December.

Al-Jazeera called for a "global day of action" to demand the immediate release of the journalists, who include former BBC correspondent Peter Greste.

Mr Greste and eight other al-Jazeera staff went on trial last week on charges including aiding a terrorist organisation - the Muslim Brotherhood.

Footage has emerged of the trio being held in a steel cage in court, as Nick Childs reports.
