There have been several attacks against strategic targets in Egypt.

Gunmen killed five Egyptian soldiers who were sitting in a car at a checkpoint north of the city of Ismailiya.

A large car bomb struck the offices of the security forces in southern Sinai, while a rocket-propelled grenade is reported to have hit a communications satellite disc in a Cairo suburb.
