19 August 2013 Last updated at 22:55 BST

There have been dozens more deaths in the conflict between the Egyptian security forces, supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and Egyptians who do not support the current military rulers.

On Sunday, 36 Islamist prisoners died while they were being moved out of the capital in a prison van and in the Sinai region, at least 24 police officers were shot dead after being ambushed.

Jeremy Bowen meets the advisor to Egypt's interim president, and reports from Cairo's main mortuary where "nightmares are coming true".
