Egypt: Ministers holding crisis meeting

18 August 2013 Last updated at 17:58 BST

The Egyptian interim government is meeting to discuss the crisis in the country, following protests and hundreds of deaths in clashes over the past week.

Earlier on Sunday the Muslim Brotherhood cancelled plans for two pro-Morsi demonstrations in Cairo, with sources telling the BBC they were concerned about "snipers on buildings along the routes of the marches".

The claim could not be verified.

Bethany Bell reports from Cairo.
