Egypt in crisis: Crowds throng Cairo's Tahrir Square

Thousands of supporters of Egypt's deposed President Mohammed Morsi have been gathering in the east of Cairo to demand his reinstatement, while his opponents are stage a rival demonstration in Tahrir Square.

Mr Morsi, Egypt's first Islamist president, is in detention, along with some senior Muslim Brotherhood figures.
