Syria 'falling apart', says UN's High Commissioner for Refugees

The number of Syrians displaced by fighting in their country has now reached one million and is continuing to rise fast.

The rate at which people are fleeing the civil war, mostly to neighbouring countries, has increased since the beginning of the year. Half of them are children under the age of 11.

According to the United Nation the international humanitarian response to the Syrian conflict is now "dangerously stretched".

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres spoke to the BBC's George Alagiah on BBC World News.
