Syria: Lakhdar Brahimi laments Assad's 'lost opportunity'

Help

The international envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, has said the recent speech by President Bashar al-Assad was a lost opportunity to resolve the crisis in Syria.

Mr Brahimi, who last met President Assad in December, told the BBC the speech was a repeat of previous initiatives that had not worked and was in fact even more sectarian and one-sided.

He was speaking to the BBC's Lyse Doucet.
