Syria crisis: Nato supports Patriot missiles for border defence

Nato's Secretary-General has said he is confident the organisation will agree to Turkey's request for support defending its border with Syria.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Nato stands "in full solidarity" with Turkey and the deployment of Patriot missiles could be expected to take place within weeks.

He emphasised that the move "would be defensive only," quashing the idea it could lead to a no-fly zone, or offensive operations against Syria.
