Assad resignation 'up for discussion'

Syria's Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil has said the government is prepared to discuss the exit of President Assad, but it cannot be a pre-condition for talks.

Speaking on a visit to Moscow he said there must be no intervention and that the West was "looking for a pretext to intervene militarily".

Mr Jamil's comments follow President Obama's warning that the US may intervene if Syria uses chemical weapons.
