Syrian government forces strike back at rebels

Fierce fighting has been reported in Syria's two biggest cities - Damascus and Aleppo - as government forces seek to regain control of rebel-held areas.

Many civilians have fled the violence, but others remain trapped.

Jim Muir reports from Beirut, in neighbouring Lebanon.
