UN meets to discuss resolution to stop Syria violence

The United Nations has met in New York to consider a draft resolution to stop the violence in Syria.

The UK, France and Germany have drafted a resolution urging President Assad to hand over power to a deputy.

Russia said it could not support the text in its current form, but it has not said it will veto it.
