Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh has stepped down after 33 years in power, leaving the country so he can have medical treatment in the US.

The country he has left behind is in political turmoil, with signs that Islamist groups linked to terrorist organisations, are growing in influence.

Stephen Sackur reports from the city of Aden in southern Yemen.
