Chile ash cloud spreads south - satellite images

The Chile ash cloud is disrupting flights over Australia and New Zealand, as well as South America. The Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcano range began erupting on 4 June and the ash cloud has since travelled across the Pacific to Australia and New Zealand.

The New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority has said the ash cloud is likely to continue to affect the area for at least another week.
