Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Egypt on a sixth day of anti-government protests, with the military staging an apparent show of strength in the capital Cairo.
Pro-democracy activist Mohamed ElBaradei described the situation in the country as "total chaos", saying that President Mubarak must stand down immediately so that free and fair elections can be held.
