Arsenal found in Venezuela jail

1 October 2013 Last updated at 17:57 BST

A search of a prison in the city of Sabaneta, in the north-west of Venezuela, has uncovered tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Guards also found drugs, guns, tear gas and knives during their sweep of the jail.

Sixteen inmates were killed in gang violence in the prison two weeks ago.

Venezuela's penitentiaries are notoriously overcrowded and riots and gang warfare are not unusual.
