A sculptor based in the suburbs of Caracas is making a giant statue of former Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.

Julio Cesar Briceno says he decided to make the piece - which will eventually be cast in bronze - on the day that Hugo Chavez died in March, as a personal tribute to the man who first rose to power in the country in 1998.

Natalio Cosoy reports.
