Ruptured water main kills child in Rio

A water main in the city of Rio de Janeiro ruptured on Tuesday killing one child and injuring several others.

Three-year-old Isabela Severo da Silva was taken to hospital after swallowing a significant amount of water but could not be revived.

According to local news reports the water main break in Campo Grande in the west of the city reached heights of 20 meters.

Ten homes are believed to have been destroyed.
