US President Obama has paid tribute to Rosa Parks during the unveiling of a statue of the civil rights pioneer beneath the dome of the US Capitol.

Rosa Park's refusal in 1955 to give up her seat to a white man on a city bus in segregated Montgomery, Alabama, was a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement.
