Global impact of food price rises
There has been drought in the US, poor rainfall in Russia and South America and a dry monsoon in India, all of which have had a major impact on the world's most important food crops and consequently food prices.
To mark World Food Day the BBC's Vladimir Hernandez in Buenos Aires and and Will Grant in Mexico City have been examining the impact of rising food costs in their parts of the world.
