Venezuela election: Chavez and Capriles contest poll

Voters in Venezuela are going to the polls in what is predicted to be the country's most tightly-contested presidential election in a decade.

Left-wing incumbent Hugo Chavez, first elected in 1998, is seeking a fourth term, to continue what he calls his "Bolivarian Revolution" towards socialism.

His opponent, Henrique Capriles, has promised to restore economic growth. He also has the backing of 30 opposition parties.
