Jersey woman Jillian Smith dies in diving accident

A Jersey woman has died while diving off the east coast of the island, police have confirmed.

Jillian Smith, 41, was diving with a group at St Catherine on Saturday afternoon when she got into difficulty.

She was brought to the surface by one of her dive "buddies", but despite attempts to resuscitate her, she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Tim Barnes from the States of Jersey Police said Ms Smith was born in Jersey.

Police will investigate on behalf of the Deputy Viscount to determine the circumstances.
