Man charged with stabbing in Jersey

A 54-year-old Portuguese man has appeared in Jersey's Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder.

Antonio Cidade Barbosa, who spoke through a translator, reserved his plea and is due to appear again on 11 April.

He is accused of stabbing Maria Barbosa multiple times at a housing estate in St Brelade.

His address was given as Les Arbes, 31 Quennevais Park, which was where the stabbing took place. Police have described it as "an isolated incident".

No application for bail was made and Barbosa was remanded in custody.

The case is expected to be heard in the Royal Court in May.
