Jersey Grainville School evacuated after toilet fire
Mr Love said the building's fire doors stopped the smoke spreading through the school
Smoke from a small fire led to the evacuation of 600 pupils from Jersey's Grainville School.
Two firefighters tackled the blaze in a first floor toilet shortly after 15:00 GMT before using a pressure fan to clear the smoke.
Jersey's Fire and Rescue Service has started an investigation into how the fire started.
Chris Love, watch commander, praised staff at the school for their help and the efficiency of the evacuation.
He said smoke had built up quickly from the small fire, but the building's fire doors had stopped it from spreading further.
