The number of HIV cases rises in Jersey, says charity

The number of cases of HIV in Jersey has risen, according to an island AIDS awareness charity.

ACET Jersey said there were around 100 people living with HIV in the island, with nine new cases in the first 10 months of 2012.

Supporters of the charity and 55 students from Jersey College for Girls, handed out red ribbons in St Helier to mark World AIDS Day.

Malcolm Lewis, Chairman of ACET, said it was crucial to highlight the issue.
