Jersey youth club building project needs £250,000

Work on a new youth club in Jersey may stop if more money is not found to finish the building.

Young people in St John have helped design the youth club but the parish still needs £250,000 to finish it.

The old youth club used to share facilities with the shooting club.

The two-storey centre will be three times bigger than the old club and will feature table tennis facilities, a kitchen and a meeting room.

Youth officer Simon Bell has been working in the parish for three years and said he hoped funds could be found.

Mr Bell said: "We would like to move in, even if we haven't got the next phase built we would like to move back into the building.

"The young people ask me every time I see them, when is our club going to open again, they are getting pretty desperate."
