Jehovah's Witnesses travel to Jersey convention

About 1,500 Jehovah's Witnesses from southern England have travelled to Jersey for an annual convention, organisers have said.

The island is hosting the three-day District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses at Fort Regent.

Organiser John Quemard said it allowed like-minded people to meet as well as listen to a number of delegates.

He added that about 500 Jehovah's Witnesses were attending the event from both Jersey and Guernsey.

"It has attracted similar numbers to previous years," he said.

In previous years the convention has been held in Guernsey.

The event will finish on Sunday evening.
