Ray Davies confirmed for Jersey Folklore Festival
The two headline acts for the first Folklore Festival are Ray Davies and Van Morrison
Former Kinks frontman Ray Davies has been confirmed as the Sunday night headliner for the Folklore Festival.
The event, in its first year, is run by the organisers of the Jersey Live festival of music.
Van Morrison and Joan Armatrading have already been confirmed for the event taking place on People's Park in St Helier.
Other confirmed acts include Lee Scratch Perry, Nouvelle Vague and Sixto Rodriguez.
"Punk poet" John Cooper Clark has also been confirmed for the second stage, which organisers said would feature a mix of poetry, comedy and film.
Local musician Lloyd Yates is due to perform at the event as well.
The event is still subject to organisers getting permission from the Bailiff's panel.
One of the festival directors, Warren Holt, said the main stage would be "a showcase for musical legends and the legends of the future".
Warren Le Sueur, festival director, said: "To have been given the opportunity to host one of the best known English born rock stars and a former founder member of the Kinks will be a special moment indeed for both ourselves and the Island."
Tickets for the event go on sale on Saturday and will cost £105 for the weekend and £62.50 for a single day.
The Folklore festival is taking place on Saturday 30 June and Sunday 1 July.
