An extra 12 volunteers have been recruited to help people who get into trouble on a night out in St Helier.

Street Pastors have 15 members who go out late at the weekends to help anyone who has drunk too much, lost their friends or been assaulted.

New volunteers have been recruited for the Christian group and they will begin training later this month.

Vinnie Jones, who runs the organisation, said it was important to be on the street to help people out.

"The satisfaction I get is being able to take what I believe my faith should compel me to do," Mr Jones said.

"I go out on the street an able to provide compassion for the people I meet in a practical way."
