States of Jersey politicians meeting French delegation

Senior French politicians are travelling to Jersey to discuss "key" issues common to governments on both sides of the Channel.

The delegation will meet Chief Minister Ian Gorst, Assistant Chief Minister Sir Philip Bailhache and Guernsey's Chief Minister Lyndon Trott.

Items on the agenda include emergency planning, environmental issues, and energy provision.

The French representatives from La Manche will arrive on Tuesday.

The two senior politicians are the Prefet de la Manche Adolphe Colrat and President du Conseil General de la Manche Jean-Francois Le Grand.

Jersey's chief minister said a "productive dialogue" had already been established with the French department and he welcomed the chance to include Guernsey's chief minister in the discussions.

"It is important that we maintain a joined-up approach with our political neighbours, both in France and Guernsey," Mr Gorst said.
