Police in Jersey will be targeting known criminals and using forensic evidence to link break-ins in a bid to stem burglaries.

Officers said they hoped Operation Hornet would help deal with an overall increase in break-ins in the island.

Police said two-thirds of burglaries were at beach cafes, building sites, garages and sheds.

Officers will also be offering free full crime prevention surveys for anyone who runs a beach kiosk.
