A carol service raised £750 for BBC Children in Need on Wednesday evening.

The event was organised by BBC Radio Jersey and featured the Band of the Island of Jersey and the Jersey Festival Choir.

There were readings by BBC presenters, the Dean of Jersey, Victoria College students, Jersey Rugby Club's Dave Felton and the Bailiff Michael Birt.

About 400 people packed out the newly refurbished Town Church in St Helier for the event.

Organiser Beckie Williams said she was pleased with the amount raised for BBC Children in Need.

She said: "It was great, it was a good community event."

The service will be broadcast on BBC Radio Jersey (88.8FM and 1026MW) at 14:00 GMT on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
