Damaged yacht is towed to safety

Yacht The RNLI said it took a couple of hours to tow the 35-foot yacht back to harbour

A damaged yacht which got into difficulties about 10 miles from the south coast of the Isle of Man has been towed to safety.

Port St Mary Lifeboat was called out to help a lone yachtsman at about 20:30 BST on Thursday.

An Isle of Man RNLI spokesman said lifeboat crews reached the the 35-foot vessel, which was in danger of losing its mast, at about 21:00 BST.

It was towed back to Port St Mary Harbour. No-one was seriously injured.
