Former Isle of Man police officer guilty of harassment

A former police officer from the Manx Constabulary has been found guilty of harassment in the Isle of Man.

Stephen Andrew Ward, 47, of Foxdale, pleaded guilty to the offence at Douglas Court House.

Ward, who recently resigned from the force, was handed a restraining order and ordered to pay £220 compensation.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said: "This is a very serious matter aggravated by you being a police officer at the time of the offence."

A spokesman for the Manx Constabulary said: "Society does expect high standards from our police and our people work and achieve such standards on a regular basis- the actions of one individual should not undermine the values and behaviours that have become the benchmark for everything the constabulary stands for".
