Wandering boy, 3, reunited with 'distraught' parents

A three-year-old boy has been reunited with his "distraught" parents after he was found wandering alone in Douglas.

The child was spotted by police on patrol in Bayr Cam, at the junction with Cooil Road, at about 04:30 BST.

Officers took the boy, who was found wearing a nappy and a blue polo shirt, to hospital for a check-up but he had not sustained any injuries.

Police said they would be investigating the incident with the help of social services.

Sgt Paul Kemp said the boy's "distraught" parents called police as soon as they realised he was missing.

He said the boy was a "happy, smiley little chap who had woken up and gone for a wander".

The force had launched an appeal to find his family through social media and conducted door to door inquiries in the area.
