A man charged with the robbery of a jewellery shop in Douglas has been remanded in custody.

Michael Bergquist, 38 and of no fixed abode, is accused of committing a robbery at RHS Jewellers on Prospect Hill on 9 May.

He appeared via video link at Douglas courthouse on Tuesday but is yet to enter a plea.

Mr Bergquist has already admitted three charges relating to a stolen motorcycle used in the raid.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes remanded him in custody until 15 July when a committal hearing will take place.

About £25,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from RHS Jewellers during the robbery, police said.
