Isle of Man pedestrian died of 'blunt force chest injuries'

A woman who died after being struck by a car on the Isle of Man died of "blunt force chest injuries", an inquest has heard.

Gwen Valentine, 62, from Winchester, Hampshire was visiting family when the crash happened on the Tholt-y-Will Road on 26 April.

Isle of Man police said a 30-year-old man has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Coroner John Needham noted the cause of death before adjourning proceedings.

He said: "I am only opening the inquest today due to ongoing criminal enquiries".

Proceedings at Douglas Court House will resume at a date yet to be fixed.
